Dan E. Nicholas is a long term care solutions specialist and an estate planner serving the Monterey Bay & Santa Clara County since 1986.  His focus through the years has been helping clients and families take care of tomorrow by providing “peace of mind for the next 40 years” through funding strategies to minimize the burden on family by providing risk transfer plans for in-home care, asset protection, dignity and the choice to remain home.

Through two decades he has produced dozens of educational seminars for clients and attorneys, CPAs, clubs, local organizations and elected officials, hosted the Calif. State LTC Partnership chief and staff in three annual LTC awareness events he’s organized, helped boomers and seniors with strategies that make for independence at retirement.  Often this means structuring assets, income and insurance to stay independent and out of a nursing home. 

Strategies Magazine (AALTCi.org) recently numbered Dan Nicholas and his Aptos team among the top 30 LTCi producers in California...and among the top 250 producers in the US, this amidst 40,000 licensed financial advisors in his LTCi field.

Dan has been affiliated with Prudential Financial and Pruco Securities since the mid 80's and in 2003 he started Nicholas Insurance & Financial.  He now provides Long Term Care (LTC) solutions through ACSIA/LTC Global, the nation’s oldest and largest agent support brokerage firm offering all the top LTCi insurance carriers: John Hancock, Genworth, MetLife, Prudential, Mutual of Omaha, One America, Transamerica, Equitable and others.

Mr. Nicholas has academic degrees in philosophy and theology and has worked as a Protestant minister, an Evangelical Orthodox priest, a commercial fisherman, and a writer.  He is the father of three grown children and performs his own poetry and songs on occasion and, at times, sings with his wife traditional Byzantine chants and hymns in a Russian Orthodox Choir. 

Affiliations

Dan is member of the Santa Cruz Co. Estate Planning Council since 1989; he is a two time NAIFA past president and has for 10 yrs served on his profession’s board of directors with the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the 100 member strong NAIFA Monterey Bay chapter.  He is also a member of the Santa Cruz Co. Senior Roundtable and the co-founder of SCEPA, Senior Care & Estate Preservation Advisors. 

He is is also a regular speaker at Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis clubs on senior and aging issues.  He also volunteers as a Santa Clara County CODA Alliance as a certified Advance Directive for Health Care trainer and facilitator with AD work documented by USA Today and NPR.  He’s been an Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk volunteer since 2000 and is a card carrying member of Poetry Santa Cruz.
